Cindy Tanghal is a psychologist who consults and practices in the western suburbs of Melbourne as well as within inner city of Melbourne. She has over 10 years of extensive experience working in private inpatient and outpatient programs in mental health hospitals; as well as working for Australian Government agencies conducting short term therapy to long term therapy, group therapy, critical incident response counselling to natural disasters and clinical assessments such as IQ testing, personality assessments and report writing. She has vast experience working with a wide range of complex and prevalent presentations including mood disorders such as depression, Bi-polar affective disorder; anxiety disorders such as GAD, Social anxiety, Panic disorders, PTSD, OCD; Anger; interpersonal difficulties; Drug and Alcohol problems; and Personality disorders such as Borderline Personality Disorder.
Currently, Cindy works in the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) program at one of Victoria’s largest private psychiatric hospital, where she provides therapy to outpatient clients diagnosed or presentation of traits with Borderline Personality Disorder. Her role in the DBT program include providing DBT individual therapy, DBT skills training, DBT consultation meeting and phone coaching. Her work with these clients has led to experience treating many co morbid conditions such as substance abuse, eating disorders, and post-traumatic symptoms. Cindy also supervises university post graduate students undertaking master and doctorate degrees during their placements and she is an approved APHRA Psychology Board of Australia supervisor.
Cindy has completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) with a Graduate Diploma in Psychology and a Masters of Psychology (Counselling). She is fully registered as a Psychologist with AHPRA, Psychology Board of Australia and; an approved APHRA Psychology Board of Australia supervisor.
Statement of approach to client care:
Cindy takes a holistic approach and is in tuned, sensitive to client’s needs. She aims to target and tailor each session with the most suitable intervention strategies to develop self awareness and conjunctively work towards client’s goals and needs leading to create enriched and a meaningful life.
